Am 3. Adventswochenende (10. und 11.12.2022) findet in Schmitten im Ortsteil Oberreifenberg traditionell der beschauliche und beliebte Schmittener Weihnachtsmarkt statt. Der höchstgelegenste Weihnachtsmarkt in Hessen am Fuße des Großen Feldbergs steht erneut unter der Schirmherrschaft von Landrat Ulrich Krebs.
Besucher dürfen sich in diesem Jahr auf eine Vielzahl an kulinarischen Köstlichkeiten freuen, darunter zum Beispiel Flammkuchen, Pizza, Wildschweinbratwurst vom Holzkohlegrill, Pilzpfannen, Spießbraten, köstliche Eintöpfe u.v.m. Für Große und Kleine Genießer gibt es zudem süße Crepes, frische Waffeln und Kaiserschmarren. Die Kinder freuen sich auf Geschenke vom Weihnachtsmann und eine Kinder-Tombola.
Viele Stände bieten Handwerk, Geschenkideen und Spielzeug von lokalen Anbietern. Es gibt Honigprodukte, Selbstgenähtes, Taschen, Schmuck, Seifen, Dekoration und vieles mehr zu entdecken. Auf der Bühne im Aktionszelt wird ein musikalisches, weihnachtliches Programm geboten
